Required documents for foreign travelers to enter Vietnam

To enter Vietnam, foreign travelers must note that there are some required documents to bring along to be accepted to enter Vietnam. Here are the required documents:

  1. Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in Vietnam and have at least one blank page for the entry stamp.

    In case you have a 5 years Visa exemption (for Vietnamese outside of Vietnam), TRC (Temporary Residence Card), it can replace a Visa for the holder to be used to enter Vietnam legally.

  3. Additional documents you might need (Depending on your purpose of travel, and nationality)

    – 2 ID photos: If you are holding a Visa approval letter and will collect the Visa upon arrival, you need to bring it along. (it can be taken at the airport with the fee of 5 USD/person)

    – Proof of onward travel: Some immigration officials may ask for proof that you will be leaving Vietnam at some point. This could be a plane ticket showing your departure from Vietnam, or a bus or train ticket continuing your journey to another country. 

    Yellow fever vaccination certificate: If you are traveling from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission, you will need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Vietnam. You can get this certificate from a travel clinic or your doctor

    – Travel insurance: While not mandatory, travel insurance is highly recommended for any trip abroad. It can help cover unexpected costs such as medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or lost luggage.

    COVID-19 vaccination certificate and negative test result: As of May 15, 2022, Vietnam no longer requires a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination for entry.
