What is the Vietnam Visa approval Letter?

A Vietnam Visa approval letter is an official document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department (part of the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security) that grants permission to enter and exit Vietnam for a specific period. It’s not the actual visa itself, but rather a pre-approval that allows you to obtain the Vietnam Visa on arrival at designated airports. Without a Visa approval letter, you will be denied boarding the plane.

What it contains:

  • Statement confirming your permission to enter Vietnam and obtain the visa stamp at the airport.
  • Details about the traveler(s), including:
    • Full name(s)
    • Passport number(s)
    • Date(s) of birth
    • Nationality/ies)
  • Permitted duration of stay in Vietnam.
